Taking care of your children is a difficult task for any parent, and it appears that not only humans, but also animals, must bear this burden. But no one proves it more convincingly than this poor lion father. This majestic lion, a father of five, may be the king of the jungle, but when it comes to parenting, he appears as helpless as its prey!
A lion was caught on camera desperately trying to look after his energetic cubs while their mother was away in a series of rather hilarious photos. Despite his best efforts, the male named Singa is not nearly as bossy with his young charges as he is with the rest of the pride. He’s getting a headache from the five mischievous cubs.
The incident occurred at the Pakawi Park Zoo in Belgium, where the lion was forced to take over parenting duties after the cubs’ mother, JJ, was bitten by another lioness and was taken to the zoo’s medical facility for treatment. Despite the fact that she only sustained minor injuries, she is required to stay away from their cubs for a few days.
Singa hardly tries to do the mother job, but he’s struggling! Wildlife photographer Linda Smit captured the moment!
“For a few weeks, the mother had to be separated from her cubs to heal. As a result, dad had to look after them,” the photographer explained. “He was attempting to lift them, as the mother would, in order to carry them to a safer location. He didn’t have the skills or experience to lift them properly as a man.”
JJ was fully recovered after nearly a week, and she was reunited with her cubs, who were overjoyed to see their mother again. But, to be honest, I’m not sure who was happier: the cubs or their father?
