Every reunion is invaluable. Nothing beats the joy of reuniting with loved ones, especially when we believe we have lost them forever. The dog in this story is extremely fortunate.
After three years of being separated from his family, he was finally reunited with his father. When he saw his father in person, he smiled for the first time, both sad and happy.
The missing dog’s name is Roscoe. He had become disoriented and wandered the streets for three years, relying on the kindness of strangers to feed him.
The dog was then taken to the Washington County-Johnson City Animal Shelter in Washington County. Roscoe, on the other hand, continued to live in his shell. No matter how many treats the shelter’s staff and volunteers gave him, he never smiled or wagged his tail.
Nothing could bring a smile to Roscoe’s face. He refused to interact with anyone at the shelter, despite their best efforts. He yearned for his home and a significant part of his life.
“He was very shy and reserved the entire time he was here… It was as if he didn’t have a personality,” the shelter’s director, Tammy Davis, told The Dodo. “He wasn’t behaving like a dog at all.”
The shelter staff, on the other hand, did not give up. They decided to share his story and photos on their Facebook page to help the reserved dog. They hoped it would assist him in locating his family.
And it was because of this small act that Roscoe’s life was forever changed. “I believe that’s my dog and he’s been missing for three years,” a man wrote on their Facebook page shortly after.
David was a little sceptical at first. However, after the man sent her a photo of Roscoe with his distinctive markings, she agreed to let him visit Roscoe. He was interested to see if the dog could recognize the man.
“The rest of us stepped back and let the gentleman in with Roscoe, and it was just incredible,” Davis said. “It was as if something clicked in his head and he realized, ‘This is my person, my daddy.'”
And the dog was finally reunited with his father. He was startled for a few seconds before continuing to wag his tail, jump up, and circle his father.
So it was obvious that this was his owner, all it took was a few minutes for him to realize who it was, and he knew right away,” David continued.
After being separated from his father, the shy and reserved missing dog smiles for the first time. A much-needed smile that brings an end to his sad and boring days of getting lost.
Roscoe can eventually return to his home and reunite with his father. Hope to hear and see more about him in the future.
