While visiting Yellowstone Park, a group of wildlife enthusiasts had a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with one of the park’s most elusive residents – a wolverine. When the tourists and their tour guide saw the extremely rare sighting, they were both speechless. Fortunately, the case was captured on video!
“We turned around to go back when I saw what I thought was a black bear running down the road,” one of the tourists, Carl Kemp, said. “We realized we were in the middle of a once-in-a-lifetime experience as soon as it turned!”
A group of tourists were walking through the wildlife park last Saturday when a wolverine crossed the road right in front of them. It even came to a complete stop and stared at them from a safe distance. The amazing encounter lasted only a few minutes, but it was long enough to captivate the group, which included a 9-year-old girl and her father.
“For the rest of the tour, the 9-year-old daughter couldn’t stop saying, ‘Wow… we saw a wolverine today!’ every 15 minutes or so. For The Win Outdoors spoke with MacNeil Lyons, the tour operator’s owner. She said it was the most incredible day of her life.”
Lyons even used Facebook to spread the word about his once-in-a-lifetime experience!
The chances of seeing a wolverine in Yellowstone, let alone having one cross your path, are extremely slim, so these tourists should consider themselves extremely fortunate. In the park, there are only seven (documented) wolverines!
