Yesterday was US Veterans Day, a special holiday honoring all men and women who served in the army. But it was a very special day for the veterinarian to reunite with his service dog, which had been lost for days.
Nick Rankin is an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan. Like many returning veterinarians, Nick suffers from PTSD, but fortunately he has a loyal friend who can help with everything.
Its friend is Fosse, a 2-year-old German shepherd who acts as Nick’s service dog.
“It’s amazing, it’s amazing. He’s my best friend,” Nick told WKBN. “He goes wherever I go. He’s kind to everyone. He’s perfect for all animals. He is my best friend
Fossy was with him when he moved from New York to Boardman, Ohio two weeks ago, but sadly the dog got lost during the move after escaping the kennel.
Nick began an urgent search for his beloved pet, encouraged everyone in the area to keep an eye on him, and offered him a $ 300 reward.
When a pet goes missing, it’s never easy, especially if it’s a service dog that you rely on for your health. But Nick was also worried about Fosse’s welfare. The dog hasn’t left him for a long time.
“I know he’s very scared now because he wasn’t alone since two months when I got him,” Nick wrote in a Facebook post. “He means the world to me.”
The search lasted for a week. Nick heard that he could be witnessed in the area, but he never brought the dog back.
Then on Thursday he finally received the news he was waiting for: Fossy was found!
According to WKBN, Fosse was found four miles away. Locals found the dog eating cat food, and police set up cages to humanely catch lost pets.
Nick was overjoyed to hear that his dog was found. “I feel like I’m at the top of the world to keep him again,” he told WKBN. “The great relief and gratitude for getting him back is just amazing.”
Fossy was also happy to be back with his beloved owner. “When he saw me, he started crying.” The dog is said to have been healthy despite the trials.
Befitting, the two reunited on Veterans Day, a very special holiday for the vet.
“Coming to pick him up on Veterans Day ” … I’m over the moon to bring him back, and I know he’s just as happy as me.”
I am very pleased to find that Fossa is safe and healthy and to go home with the owner. It’s great to see these two best friends reunited ❤️
