The Woman Checked The Shelter’s Adoption Site And Found Her Dog Who Disappeared Two Years Ago

Posted on October 25, 2021 by senad

It is always heartbreaking when a dog disappears. You look everywhere and hope they find them, but at some point you lose hope.

But sometimes miracles happen, and lost pets are found months or even years after their disappearance … sometimes when you least expect it.

That was the case recently after a woman discovered a familiar face on a dog adoption website, resulting in a lovely reunion with an old friend.

Aisha Nieves from Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, adored her dog, a Pit Bullrottweiler mix named Kovu.

“He is my baby. He will go with me anywhere. He will sleep in my bed,” Aisha told WFMZ. Literally, the definition of a man’s best friend. ”

But Aisha was devastated in 2019 when a car crashed into her home in Allentown, leaving Kovu missing.

“I knew he was gone when I came home that day and he wasn’t there to run to me and give me a kiss as usual,” she told The Morning Call.

“I looked all over the house and couldn’t find it, then I searched around Allentown for a week or so and still couldn’t find it.”

A few weeks later, she received even worse news: Kovu had been found by the Lehigh County Humane Society, but was told that the dog had been adopted by another family.

She was devastated and thought her best friend was gone for good. But two years later she received an unexpected surprise.

Aisha said she was randomly scrolling down the Humane Society’s adoption page when she saw a very familiar face: Kovu’s.

While the dog was listed as “Ash”, he knew he was an old friend. “He has a scar just above his right eye,” she told WFMZ. “It’s not very clear anymore, but in the photos they have, you can see it.”

She couldn’t believe it, but it really was him. How did you end up in the shelter again? LCHS Development Manager Deirdre Snyder told Morning Call that the family who adopted him in October 2019 gave him up earlier this month after being subjected to a possible eviction.

It was a remarkable coincidence that Aisha saw Kovu at the facility shortly after, but it gave her an unexpected opportunity to win back her beloved dog after two years of separation.

But after such a long separation, in which Kovu was part of another family, Aisha wondered how her dog would react to seeing her again when she arrived at the Humane Society: “I was sweating. My hands started to shake. I was afraid he wouldn’t remember me because it had been so long. I sat down and waited for them to take it out. ”

But as soon as Kovu saw her, he exploded with joy and excitement. It was clear that there was no love lost between these two.

“He was screaming and trying to get away from the guy holding him and running towards me,” Aisha said. “Then he just jumped on me and we started kissing and hugging.”

“I instructed him, `Yeah, buddy, you`re going home. I`m so sorry this happened. Never once more am I dropping you.`”

Now the two of them are safe at home and make up for lost time. “I love him as much as if I’m so happy that he’s back,” Aisha told WFMZ.

What a miracle. We are so happy that Aisha was able to find her dog in such an unexpected way after all these years. I’m so glad that Kovu is home!
