The reason wildlife is so fascinating is its unpredictability. It can offer a spectacular and invisible sighting at any time and amaze everyone. No matter how much we think we know, wildlife will always amaze us! Speaking of rare sightings, a traffic jam caused by a busy leopard mother teaching her babies to cross the street definitely has to be high on this list.
The beautiful scene unfolded elsewhere but in South Africa’s most famous game reserves – the Kruger National Park. One of the last places on earth where animals still roam freely and at the same time offer the rare opportunity for locals and tourists to admire. This time, a group of drivers accidentally caught a poignant sight of a female leopard and hers two cubs of hers.
Among the few lucky Witnesses was Thinus Delport, a 64-year-old nature lover. Ever since he learned that he loved wild animals, Delport and his daughters have been to a safari camp in the Kruger in hopes of having an exceptional encounter with the majestic creatures that live there. However, since their daughters had never seen a leopard before, the two decided to leave the camp earlier in the morning and look for one. But suddenly they had to stop in front of them due to a traffic jam.
“First thing in the morning, my daughters and I left the camp in search of leopards,” Delport told Latest Sightings. “They were convinced that there were no leopards in the Kruger, as none of them had ever seen one.” Imagine how shocked people were when they found out that nothing but a family of leopards was responsible for their control.
“We got stuck in a traffic jam with some cars in front of us,” Delport told Latest Sightings. “It seemed as if the visitors were looking at a pride of lions. My daughter noticed that in the thicket behind our vehicle a mother leopard was trying to move her cubs … While driving, I jokingly persuaded them to sing in the car to get the leopards out, and they did, and to my surprise, it really worked! ”
A mother leopard, followed by her two adorable cubs, was preparing to cross the street when the little ones were likely to freak out and decide not to chase their mother. Drivers noticed the scene and immediately stopped their vehicles. Meanwhile, the convincing female leopard gained the trust of her babies and the two dared to cross the street. On the one hand, however, the effort seemed too great, so it had to be assumed by her mother.
For Delport, but especially her daughter, the unique moment was a dream come true. Fortunately, some of the witnesses even captured the rare sighting on camera.
