The Dog Who Slept On The Street For 11 Years Woke Up To A Fortunate New Life

After years of living on the streets of Los Angeles, the stray dog gets the biggest surprise ever. When the deaf puppy was ready to give up, he found the loving family and warm home he’s always been looking for. A moving story that shows that even the saddest fairy tale can have the happiest ending!

A poor, innocent dog, called  Solovino (meaning “I came alone” in Spanish), has roamed the streets of Los Angeles all his life. So he had the toughest life a dog could ever have, but he never gave up and has been moving on ever since! Sick, weary, and constantly hungry, this helpless creature seemed to have had enough and, with its last strength, found a place to lay on someone’s veranda, ready to surrender. But he had no idea that this was only the beginning of a new chapter in his life!

When the woman saw an old dog sleeping on the veranda, she took pity on him and began to feed him. She called him Solovino or Solo. However, when she realized the dog was comfy on her porch, she realized he could be homeless and turned to the Rocket Dog Rescue Service for her help. Soon the dog was sent to a San Francisco shelter. After a visit to the veterinarian there, Solo was also adopted, but no one seemed to need him. So he moved from one foster home to another for over a year and a half. But that wasn’t until Carol Messina accidentally found a picture of him on the Internet.

“As soon as I saw his face on their website, I wanted to love him,” Messina explained to Dodo. “I immediately thought, ‘Wow, his name is Solo! Come to find out, that’s what his adoptive father calls him! I know it’s fate. Then when I met him and saw how sad he was, I knew he would be with me forever, no matter what.”

Despite being so excited to finally be given the chance to have a permanent home, Solo is still very confused and very shy. A natural behavior that appreciates the difficult life he has led. However, Messina is ready to give him all the time it takes to make him feel comfortable.

“When he first came to live with me, he kept his tail between his legs for months,” explained the kind woman. “He was very unresponsive to dogs, people, and cats, and would turn around whenever someone tries to pet him.”

But even so, the older dog still has difficulty adjusting to the new lifestyle. That’s when his mother found out that he was unfortunately completely deaf and that he also had serious dental problems. But that didn’t stop Messina from loving and comforting him in the sweetest way. She was willing to help him, no matter what, in the end she succeeded. And now they are the sweetest couple.

“People living around us always comment that he doesn’t look like the same dog anymore,” Messina said. “He didn’t smile, open his mouth, or even gasp for months, and now he smiles and rolls, running around the grass a dozen times a day at full speed, which is the best thing I have ever done and inspired me to have more older dogs in my life who need of hospice care. “
