Last month, after Sumif’s death, owner Libby Davie thought it was a good idea to keep a picture of a dog that died in that home, as a souvenir. She couldn’t imagine it being important to Frank fas it was for her.
When the portrait was completed and Davie hung it on the wall, Frank responded most emotionally to it. He was staring at the picture of his deceased brother for hours. Smiff’s mind may have been released, but in some respects it didn’t really disappear.
The new painting simply revealed the truth. Of course, Sumif cannot be revived, but it is clear that his beloved memory will remain in Davie and Frank’s heart forever. A good dog like Smiff is worth more.
