Blue Dozer, a gentle pit bull, has been more than just a loyal friend for his 12-year-old dachshund buddy OJ for the past four years or so. Because his friend has been guiding him through the world, the senior dog, who is blind, has put his complete trust in him.
Blue Dozer recently demonstrated that he will never abandon his friend for anything in this world. Unfortunately for the two, their owner lost her home and was forced to live on the streets. Because she couldn’t offer to care for her dogs, the woman decided to surrender them to a local Richmond shelter in the hopes that they would find a loving home. In any case, she pleaded with the staff to keep them together.
“She said they had been living in her car for a while and she had recently gone through some personal things,” Christie Chipps Peters, director of the Richmond Animal Care and Control, told The Dodo. “All she wanted was for them to be reunited in a new home!” ”
Christie and the other volunteers, on the other hand, quickly realized why they insisted on the two dogs remaining together. Because the senior dachshund was completely blind, his 6-year-old pittie served as both a comfort and a seeing eye companion. Furthermore, they were all taken aback by Blue’s tenderness and gentleness toward his helpless companion. As a result, everyone knew it wouldn’t be long before someone expressed an interest in these two adorable dogs.
“We don’t see this kind of combination very often,” Peters said. “It’s both funny and sweet.” OJ is a teeny tiny dachshund, while Blue is a super tough muscular guy. It’s so adorable to see them together. “They’ve been best friends for years, so they understand the importance of sticking together. When we went outside, OJ seemed to be Blue’s little shadow.”
To everyone’s delight, someone came forward to adopt the two dogs just a few days after they arrived at the shelter, and things were looking up for the two dogs. Obviously, the condition was that they both be adopted. That was said and done, but then something terrible happened. The poor OJ was discovered alone on the side of the road, days after the dogs had left the shelter for their new home. He was most likely dumped by his new owners!
Thankfully, the unbreakable pair was reunited at the shelter with the help of some kind people, and this time they won’t be separated! Despite the fact that their drama is far from over, Blue and OJ have a truly remarkable friendship!
In a statement, the shelter said, “We greatly appreciate the outpouring of community support. The only thing that matters is that these sweet dogs stay together — and that’s what we have in the end… We’re not going to do anything with OJ and Blue Dozer for the next few days except snuggle them.”
