Oliver is a stray dog found lost in his family’s backyard. It was not clear if he wandered alone or was left there by his previous owner. When someone called Memphis Animal Services in Memphis, Tennessee, an officer came to pick him up. He was difficult to catch at first, but when he arrived at the shelter, he was friendly, good and made everyone feel like home.
“I met him on the first day he entered, and he immediately sat down for me. The more he got to know me, the more he would press himself up against the bars of his kennels to let me pet him.”
The smart kid said hello to a passerby and looked up with a bowl of food in the dog’s eyes and mouth. So he got the name Oliver from Charles Dickens’ fictional character Oliver Twist. He became famous for the phrase “Please sir, I want some more.”
Oliver always brought a food bowl with him, as if he was looking for more delicious food and food wherever he went. The staff was so amused by Oliver’s tricks that they took a picture of Oliver and started posting it on social media. Thanks to the internet, Oliver was adopted and found his eternal family shortly before the deadline. If no one had adopted him, Oliver would have been euthanized like any other puppy who was unfortunately not adopted.
The photos posted on social media have certainly helped Oliver’s adoption given the unusually high number of requests it has received from the orphanage since posting. Oliver’s new owner saw him on the shelter’s Facebook page, fell in love, immediately applied for adoption and took Oliver home. Of course with his bowl!
This smart little claver walks around with a bowl in his mouth, asking for more snacks or food. So he got the name Oliver.
Volunteers at the Memphis Animal Service in Memphis, Tennessee, told the fictional character Oliver Twist, “Give me more, please.”
Oliver was found lost in the family’s backyard. The animal control officer brought him in, and on the first day Oliver made friends with everyone at the shelter. He likes to be petted, he likes snacks, and he likes food bowls.
Volunteers posted pictures of Oliver online and quickly went viral. An adoption application was submitted shortly before the expiration of the adoption period. Otherwise he would have been fired.
