There aren’t many things worse than giving up a closer partner. Tragically, Marine Corps Sergeant Jacob Barela was well aware of this trend. After showing up with his best canine accomplice, Barela had to revisit the United States and leave the official canine behind. The two were indistinguishable and when Barela left he gave up a bit.
Attila, the United States Navy dog, resigned three years later. This is where a meeting called Mission Canine Rescue stepped in to allow the resigned Marine to meet his resigned accomplice. Barela joined the club when he heard that the 9-year-old puppy was ready to start another chapter in his life.
He only told them that Attila was his beginning and his end and that the two of them were trapped around the clock. When it was finally an ideal opportunity for the two of them to meet again at the airport, the cameras were ready! Attila arrived in Chicago
At Midway International Airport and Sergeant Barela was trapped there for him as he would be trapped by his child. With arms outstretched.
Barela sees Attila and runs towards him. As we watched everything unfold, our hearts got ten sizes bigger! Sure, Barela was concerned that Atila might not be able to call him back.
The dog had experienced a scary herd and that was a long time ago. After all, the dog knew without a trace of pathetic uncertainty that this was his closest human friend and that he was standing right in front of him. Do not deny yourself of this second contact.
We literally get goosebumps every time we watch it! Thank you Sergeants Barela and Attila for your service! Thank you to all the humans and animals who selflessly serve our beloved country.
