A lucky man from Geel, Belgium, was able to watch his favorite TV shows while being accompanied by three very large owlets. The baby owls had hatched just outside the man’s window, after their parents had decided that this was the ideal location for their nest.
Jos Baart decided to investigate when he noticed movement outside his third-floor apartment window. He noticed a bunch of leaves and wings on the window’s sill when he looked closer. So Jos assumed a pair of pigeons were building a nest there, but he was shocked to learn that it wasn’t pigeons, but owls – the Eurasian Eagle Owl, the world’s largest owl species.
Jos was overjoyed when the massive birds gave birth to three adorable babies. He adores the newcomers and is overjoyed to have the opportunity to watch them grow up right in front of his eyes.
“It was incredible. It’s wonderful to see owls that are so unique that you could say it’s once in a lifetime,” the man told Carol Off on As It Happens. “I’m sitting in front of the window. I’m aware of the females. Yes, you can look at it throughout the day.”
However, the man recently noticed that the owlets were very interested in his television. The baby owls now join him in watching television through the window whenever he watches it.
“They see the movements when the television is on,” Jos explained. “They’re all three in front of the window for a half-hour or more, watching television.”

While the chicks appear to be very friendly and enjoy Jos’ company, their mother does not appear to share this sentiment. She simply flies away whenever she sees the man. However, the man has realized this and is attempting to be as quiet as possible.
“When I come in the room at five o’clock in the morning and see her sitting in the plant box, I make very slow movements to show that I don’t disturb her,” the man explained. “As night falls, she [flies] away to get some food. In the evenings, Daddy also brings food.”
