A Good Samaritan was passing by a vast field near the town of Elphin, Ireland, when the painful cries of a dog stopped him in his tracks.
The man was appalled to discover a weak nursing mama dog chained to a fence and stretching herself out to find some food.
The man discovered that the 6 newborn puppies hadn’t even opened their eyes yet. The little ones desperately clung on to their starving mother, whose short chain was completely entangled in the fence.
She could barely move her head. Whoever dumped them never once considered their survival in the deserted field. The man rescued the distressed family and took them to the ISPCA National Animal Centre in Longford.
The mama dog was found to be a 2-year-old with no microchip, which is considered illegal as per local laws. Apart from hunger, she was also weakened due to being out in the cold during the heavy rainfall.
The shelter is calling the dog Emmy Lou and her puppies have been named Billy Ray, Dixie, Dolly, Dotty, June and Patsy. They will be available for adoption after the New Year.
If you have any information about the original owners who dumped them, do contact the authorities. Let’s put the word out and help the authorities track her shameless owners!
