The Loughor Estuary in Gower, South Wales, is a beautiful marshland with a diverse range of wildlife. When a mare and her foal were roaming around the marshland’s uneven terrain, they were startled by an unfortunate accident, ilovemydogsomuch writes.
The mare’s back hoof had become entangled in her matted mane by accident. She tried to wiggle her hoof out, but it became twisted further in the mane, and the poor mare collapsed. She tried to stand up, but her twisted limbs made it impossible for her to do so.
When the young foal saw his mother’s distress, he freaked out. Because the little one had no idea how to assist his mother, he continued to cry for assistance. Furthermore, the area was about to be flooded by a high tide. The mare and her foal were in an extremely difficult situation.
The RSPCA officers arrive on the scene to evacuate the animals from the flooded area. When they learn of the mare’s ordeal, however, they leap into action. The mare refuses to stand up even after one of the officers untangles the hoof from the mane.
The officers realize the mare had been struggling for hours at this point. Her limbs had become weakened due to the unusual position, and she was waiting for her circulation to return to normal.
