Malnourished Cougar Found Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Just In Time To Be Rescued

Posted on January 24, 2022 by senad

Wild animals normally avoid human presence, but in this particular situation the cougar was looking for someone who could help her and this saved her life! The starving animal was on the verge of death, but fortunately, her instincts led her to a wildlife rehabilitation center.

A few weeks ago, volunteers at an Animal Rescue Center in Quilcene, Texas, were bewildered when they saw wild cougar roaming their property. But only when they got closer did they realize that feral cat was actually in very big problem. She was starving as they things looked up, only a miracle would have saved her.

“She checked itself into rehabilitation, which is a first for us, Sara Penhallegon, the director of the rehab center said. “Looking at her condition, we all thought she was going to die.”

But animal was fortunate enough to meet such devoted people. The almost one-year-old cougar was in very poor condition, but Sara and her colleagues saved her life. Now, a few weeks after her life hangs from just by a tread, the beautiful cat is on the road to recovery.

“So it was the perfect hideout,” Sara said. “And I think it went there to die. So we stumbled upon it and started the rehabilitation process.”

Cougar’s rehabilitation process continues as she is too young to return to the wild. Perhaps the animal became an orphan after her mother died, making her incredibly vulnerable. “She hasn’t learned to hunt yet,” Sara said. “She could had no way to take care of herself… Fortunately, she found a rehab facility where she could check herself into.”
