The touching story below demonstrates that even animals appreciate a small act of kindness. Bob Hoelter chose to walk to his favorite store one night instead of driving. As he was crossing a bridge to get to the store, he heard a feeble and sorrowful cry from below.
He looked beneath and around the bridge for the creature in critical situation. When he saw a scared puppy with his mouth taped shut, he was heartbroken. The poor dog had been thrown off the bridge by his previous owners.
Hoelter took the puppy to the nearest animal hospital, Griffith Animal Hospital, right away. The hospital’s manager, Lori Kovavich, made the puppy’s care a top priority. They began by removing the tape that had damaged his skin around his muzzle. He was given antibiotic ointment and shots.
They also found out that the puppy had a broken limb that needed to be fixed. After they finished the initial treatment, they built a nice bed for the puppy.
Following the puppy’s story going viral, The Wittings, a local family, fell in love with him right away and decided to adopt him, naming him Louie. The man who rescued the dog was still unknown at the time, as he simply took him to the clinic and left without saying anything, but Hoelter’s niece saw the clinic’s Facebook post about Louie’s story and organized a reunion.
When the dog was finally reunited with his hero, he immediately recognized him and raced to shower him with all of his affection; it was his way of repaying the man who had saved his life. Louie couldn’t stop licking Hoelter’s face. Nobody expected Louie to recognize his hero, but dogs have never disappointed us. Louie now lives with the Wittings, his new family, but we have no doubt that the man who saved his life will never be forgotten. What a heartfelt story.
