Italian IKEA Store Opens Its Doors For Stray Dogs To Harbor Them From The Cold

Posted on January 14, 2022 by senad

Holidays were just around the corner, so it was a season of generosity and cheer. Even the biggest Scrooge seems to be waking up at this time of year. An example of the spirit of giving is the IKEA store in Catania, Sicily. To provide warmth and shelter to the puppies on cold winter days, this store is open to stray dogs.

Shoppers in the store applaud the hospitality of the dogs nestled among the furnishings on soft rugs near comfy sofas as happy shoppers stroll through the store and have fun with the animals. The story quickly went viral and spread all over social media. A woman posted a video of the puppies and mentioned how cute the dogs are when they are sleeping, and it has surpassed 1.2 million views.

This idea came from Catania because stray dogs are a big problem and the store wanted to help. Employees are showering dogs with daily food and care and hope people adopt dogs on holidays.

“The dogs are fed daily by IKEA staff and customers. Some dogs have even found families, going home with customers.”

What better way to add a dog to your home than to save one from the home store? We think this is a great idea and would love to see more stores do something similar.

This isn’t the first time IKEA has helped shelter dogs. In the past, they have partnered with Home for Hope and displayed shelter dogs in need of rescue in their store.
