Indian Student In Ukraine Refused To Leave Without His Rescue Dog

Posted on April 1, 2022 by senad

Rishab Kaushik, an Indian student, has been unable to return home due to the war, and he refuses to leave without his rescue dog Malibu. Without the dog’s paperwork, the government kept denying his flight.

Kaushik was a student at the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics Engineering, where he was studying software engineering. He’s in his final year of college, and during his time in Ukraine, he adopted Malibu.

Kaushik intended to return to India once he realized the situation in Ukraine was dangerous. The government demanded documents that he couldn’t obtain because most of Ukraine was closed. He eventually shared his story in a video, hoping that someone would be able to help him and Malibu escape.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) contacted the Indian government after seeing his plea and persuaded them to allow pets on flights. Kaushik was able to fly to India safely with Malibu thanks to more lenient pet travel restrictions.

The dogs are very important to Kaaushik and the other students who traveled to India. They refused to give them up no matter how difficult the situation became.

Thank you so much for including him in your evacuation of Ukraine. I pray that the people of Ukraine, as well as their pets, will be spared. I’m grateful he and his lovely pet were able to leave and are now safe. You’re a thoughtful individual! Thank you so much, PETA!
