Horses Taking Care Of Baby Deer While Mother Is Absent

In a beautiful act of kindness, a herd of horses was seen caring for a newborn fawn. The child was waiting for her mother on a ranch near Steamboat Springs in Routte County, Colorado. When the horses approached the little creature and realized it was alone, they started caring for it.

Rancher Kally May noticed something unusual about her horses and went to investigate. But her heart melted for a moment when she saw the lovely sight. She even took some pictures!

Since the mother deer was nowhere to be seen, Kally began to worry a little, thinking that the baby deer might be an orphan. So the woman called wildlife officials. But they told her to leave the fawn where it was because eventually her mother would come back.

This behavior is actually very common in deer. Mothers often leave their babies alone while they forage for food. They do this to avoid predators and move faster!

After learning that all she had to do with the newborn fawn was “let it go”, Kally got it right. The next day, Kally was so happy to see the mother and baby together! “His mother just came back this morning”, May write on Thursday. “It was a very happy ending.”
