A traffic jam is not the best way to start the day. Except for these lucky drivers, it’s never a fun thing to be in with all the honking and shouting. They were on their way home when the road was suddenly blocked by a magnificent entry. It all took place in South Africa. The royal beauty of four lions walking down the asphalt in the rain astounded the crowd waiting in the Kruger National Park.
These cats are members of the Mantimahle males, a well-known Kruger lion pride. The drivers were terrified and surprised, and they were unable to pass these wild cats. All they could do was capture the scene on film.
While some may say it’s a common sight in Africa, these were a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Social media was awash with worries and joy. “Lions walking down a concrete road just seems wrong because they are losing their habitat,” one of the witnesses said.
Lions are fiercely protective of their territories. Males other than their family who compete for the love of loneliness within their territory will enrage them. In this video, these lions walk together to ensure that no unwanted visitors enter their territory.
This magnificent moment will live on in the memories of those who witnessed it for years to come. “I had a similar encounter with lions in Kruger 10 years ago,” one commenter said about the video. “It was an experience I’ll never forget.”
