True animal lovers endanger themselves to help dogs in need. The dog would have fought hard, throwing herself into the frozen pond, and would not have survived until help came. However, a stranger came forward and saved the day. A series of photographs of that moment show that some people have an immeasurable love for animals.
It was pretty cold outside, but Don Chatten enjoyed a walk with his two dogs in Buffalo, New York. As always, they were at Ellicott Creek Park when the women asked Don for help. She was desperate because she couldn’t find her own dog. Don, a gentle man, hurried to help her immediately. And it didn’t take long for the man to find the little dog. Poor one had a hard time keeping his head in the ice pond beside them.
Don soon realized that the dog was really in danger and called 911. But he thought it might be too late for the unhappy dog before the help arrived, so he took action on his own. He initially tried to crawl on the ice, but broke under his weight. But Don didn’t give up, and somehow he grabbed the dog and took him out of the water.
“The dog found something in the water, a duck or something and started chasing it,” Don told WKBW News. “I came here when I was a kid, so I knew that part wasn’t that deep.”
