Normally, wild animals become agitated in the presence of humans, but when this Estonian soldier and his unit went for a walk in the woods where they were stationed, he received the sweetest surprise. He was approached by a baby moose who began kissing him. The man realized the cute little animal might be lost right away and went out of his way to save the day!
Erich Jyri Prikko had an experience he never expected to have while participating in a military exercise on the shores of Lake Vrtsjärv in Estonia. Erich came across a helpless baby moose while walking through a nearby forest. What he thought was the sound of a crying cat turned out to be a befuddled little moose.
The man told The Dodo, “I heard some funny voices that reminded me of a cat or a small baby. I noticed a cute animal approaching from behind. He reminded me of a dog at first, but I soon realized he was a small baby moose trying to communicate with me.”
The tiny animal turned out to be alone, as his mother was nowhere to be found. Erich lied down next to a tree to console the baby moose, hoping that his worried mother would return soon. Nonetheless, he did not anticipate the baby moose’s friendliness!
“He walked slowly towards me,” Enrich explained. “At first, he was quite shy, but after deciding that I appeared to be trustworthy, he came very close to me.”
Despite the fact that he was very sweet and gentle and constantly kissed Enrich, the tiny moose appeared to be very hungry, so the kind soldier decided to intervene. He called for assistance, and someone arrived shortly after with a bottle of milk to feed the baby moose.
He explained, “I called our veterinary office and told them what happened. I wanted to help the small calf more and wanted to know what I should do.”
Enrich had to leave after a few hours in the company of the baby moose. But taking the lost animal with him would have made things worse, so he left him where he was found, hoping his mother would return. Fortunately, this occurred sooner rather than later!
“We noticed very fresh big moose footprints the next morning,” Enrich said, indicating that the small calf had been rescued by his mother. “I was overjoyed when we discovered that the calf’s mother had found him, and I was overjoyed when we discovered that they had found each other.”
